Antique Photograph Cabinet Card of Three Woman from Iowa (c.1890s)
Mable and Bertie Jones and Myrtle Davis...
We think every face tells a story. What was the story of these women?
Mable and Bertie were sisters from Iowa, and their friend was Myrtle. We don't know their real story, but they look like three women with a story to tell. Perhaps by day they worked together on the family chicken farm - cooking, cleaning, doing the laundry. But by night, they ditched their long skirts and bloomers and danced and sang and played music in a secret farmhouse club a few miles from their Iowa farm. They dreamed of getting out of Iowa and longed to travel south, maybe east of Mississippi. They always thought of themselves as the Dixie Chix....
What do you think their story was?
